Kenya finishes sixth in Los Angeles as World Rugby sevens

Shujaa closed out the 2021/22 HSBC Sevens World Series in twelfth place after finishing sixth overall at the season ending Los Angeles 7s at the Dignity Health Park in Los Angeles on Monday morning.

Damian McGrath’s men collected 12 points to finish the season on 49 points after losing 29-7 to Argentina in the fifth place final. Tony Omondi scored and converted the team’s sole try in an encounter that saw the Argentines score five tries through Mathias Osadsczuk (2), Tomas Lizazu (2) and Franco Sabato while Tobias Wade added two conversions.

New Zealand defeated Fiji 28-21 to claim the cup title in Los Angeles while Australia claimed the overall title after amassing 126 points.

Shujaa returns to the country at 11.00pm on Tuesday evening ahead of the next assignment, the Rugby World Cup 7s taking place in Cape Town, South Africa from 9-12 September.
