A strong field of 250 golfers is set to tee off at the Par-71 Nyali Golf and Country Club Course in Mombasa this weekend, battling out for the Chairman’s Prize title, sponsored by Konza Technopolis Development Authority.
The Club’s Chairman, Taib Bajaber, will join the 250 amateurs in the Saturday event that is open to all men and lady members of the home club and other nearby clubs such as Mombasa Golf Club and Vipingo Ridge Golf Club.
The morning action of the day-long 18-hole stableford event will start from 6:20 am, with the last putt projected to be around 2.00pm.
John Tanui, the Chief Executive Officer at Konza Technopolis Development Authority expressed delight at the Authority’s participation in the first tournament this year under the Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series.
“We are delighted to head to Nyali for the Chairman’s Prize Tournament. As a corporate entity that has so far undertaken three tournaments across the country under the umbrella of Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series, we are glad to participate in this fourth tournament,” said Tanui.
“I am certain that this will be one of the many interesting tournaments which we have lined up to scale up our engagement with local investors.
“KoTDA has placed golf as a key pillar of its investor outreach strategy. Through the Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series, we are keen on attracting, onboarding, and retaining key investors as we speed up the uptake of phase one investment opportunities.”
The Konza InvesTeeing Golf Series was launched on 25th September 2021 in Machakos Golf Club where David Mwangangi scored 42 points to claim the top spot. The tournament series moved to the par-72 Karen Country Club where Naivasha Sports Club’s Joseph Waigwa won with 41 points.
The third leg of the Series was held at Eldoret Club on 11th December 2021, where Eldoret Club’s Linda Kangogo carded a round of 42 points to emerge the overall winner of the tournament.
