Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller was idolized and appreciated by the official account of the Bundesliga as the League tagged him “The most underappreciated player across the globe”.
Considering Carlo Ancelotti’s time at Bayern the Italian was among other coaches who has acknowledged the 30-year old tactical awareness and superb positioning, not to even talk of records and other articles by his teammates who eulogizes him.
Muller’s loyalty and legacy as one of Germany’s and Bayern Munich finest has made him one of the very favorites among fans and even the club hierarchy. This is pure class and his passion to play for club and country is unrivalled.
For clarity purpose as to how Muller has excelled this season, there is the need to review how he started.
Back in August 2019, when Niko Kovac was in charge, Muller fell out of favour with the then manager as he most sparingly used and most of the time coming on as a substitute with just two starts to his name in September till November that year.
Those lack of playtime threatened his place in the national team as the national team manager Joachim low told him his service wasn’t needed while he was outset from the team.
By the time he turned 30 in September transfer rumours has it that Manchester United was keen on his services. He thought about leaving but late changed his mind and had his stay.
Niko Kovac was sacked which paved way for former assistant and current manager Hansi Flick. Bayern was up and running again and Muller got back to the starting line up. Muller got back to his arguably best form all these years assisting with reckless abandon which has made Robert Lewandowski benefit immensely from his work rate and converted into goals.
Thomas Muller’s doggedness, passion is worthy of emulation by any player. There might be a general feeling that he remains underappreciated, but he is still most decorated at his age.
