Prospective CAF Champions League representatives Tusker are now focused on what is arguably their biggest test as they begin the first of their three tricky fixtures in their quest to regain the FKF Premier League.
Robert Matano’s side begin the first of three matches against fellow title contenders in succession with a match against champions Gor and victories in these times could set them aside as champions-elect.
They then play AFC Leopards and KCB in subsequent fixtures.
Matano is seeking his second league title as Tusker coach and third overall in the top tier.
Tusker lead the standings with 47 points, one ahead of second placed KCB, seven ahead of AFC Leopards and eight ahead of Thursday’s opponents Gor Mahia.
A win on Thursday will take them to 50 points and a healthy 11-point gap between them and Gor and a further victory over KCB will put them comfortably on the steering wheel.
Tusker won December’s first leg 2-1 but are the overall head-to-head favourites, having won 11 of their last 25 meetings and the Brewers having managed just six wins
