Sassuolo to Inter: Our price won’t drop for Sensi

Sassuolo has said that its price won’t drop if Inter Milan decided to buy Stefano Sensi, saying the club is an expensive shop.

This was stated by the club’s general manager Giovanni Carnevali who is confident that then Nerrazurri will pay €20m asking price for the midfielder.

With the acquisition of Danish midfielder, Christian Eriksen, and the coronavirus pandemic, which has collapsed all sporting plans, there is doubt if Inter will take up their option to sign the talented lad permanently after his season was marred by injury, despite making a bright start.

Speaking with Ceramicanda, the Neroverdi chief, however, said Inter would buy Sensi outrightly, and talks on contract renewals will begin soon.

On the economic impact of COVID-19 on football business as a whole,  Carnevali admitted that prices of players would probably drop, but Sassulo’s won’t.

While noting that the Serie A had lost over €200m due to cancellation of games due to the pandemic, he revealed that Sassuolo also lost between €10m and €12m.

He further stated that the damage cost could rise to €800m if the season is incompleted. This he said will force companies to be involved in court battles with football clubs as Serie A is the driver of the second division, youth teams, and the women’s football.

Although clubs have been given the green light to begin training on Saturday, players have gone through rigorous testing of COVID-19 to ensure the safety of all the stakeholders involved.

Italy is one of the highest countries in the world that suffered a high mortality rate from COVID-19, with over 25,000 deaths.

The final all-clear will be given by the Italian government for games to resume behind closed doors, at least for the country to follow the path of the German Bundesliga.

Speaking on the resumption of football action, Carnevali said the sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora seems to be confused at a point, but noted that there would be new awareness from the government, adding that the clubs are willing to comply with all the required safety conditions.
