Manchester City forward Ferran Torres scored a hattrick as Spain scored goals against Germany in the UEFA Nations League.

In a dominant display from the Spaniards, Alvaro Morata, Mikel Oryazabal and Rodri also got on the scoresheet.

Germany had the majority of its players with Manuel Neuer in goal. The defence was held by PSV’s Phillip Max, Leeds United’s Robin Koch, Bayern’s Nick Sule and Borussia Monchengladbach Matthias Ginter.

Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, leading the Spanish Frontline as a lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation, scored the opening in the 17th minute.

Morata scored with a header from a Fabian Ruiz corner before Torres scored his first goal after the half-hour mark.

Five minutes after, Rodri scored another header from another corner as Spain led 3-0 at half time. Ten minutes after the restart saw Torres score his second of the game.

He got his hattrick on the 71st minute before substitute Mikel Oyarzabal fit himself on the scoresheet with just 1 minute left on the clock.

The win erases the disappointment of the 1-1 draw with Switzerland some days back when Sergio Ramos lost two penalties that could have won the game.

Although Germany has been inconsistent in the Nation’s League this year, the defeat is their first in a year.

Spain has now qualified to play in next year’s UEFA Nations League finals, having topped the group with 11 points, two above Germany.

In other matches, France beat Sweden 4-2, Olivier Giroud scored a brace, while Kingsley Coman and Benjamin Pavard also scored for the World Champions.

Elsewhere, Portugal beat ten-man Croatia 3-2, Ruben Dias scored a brace while Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix also hit one.

On Wednesday, England will play Iceland, Belgium will host Denmark, Poland and Netherlands, Bosnia & Herzegovina will play Italy in some of the selected fixtures.
