Real Madrid’s pursuit of Stade Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga seems to have suffered a setback as the French player revealed his happiness at the Ligue1 club.
Camavinga has been subject to several elite clubs in Europe, but the midfielder has stated he is looking forward to signing a new deal at Stade Rennais.
Asides from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are some of the top clubs interested in the teenager.
The 18-year-old is France’s youngest goalscorer since 1914 and the Blues youngest player. He has already made 49 French Ligue 1 appearances, growing into one of Europe’s in-demand youngsters.
Stade Rennes has already stated that they are not interested in selling the youngster although this could change with the player having one year left on his contract.
Camavinga, during the summer transfer window, said he wasn’t getting carried away with the interests of Europe’s biggest club sides.
However, despite being vocal about his intentions of staying at Stade Rennes, Camavinga changed agents, but he claims that doesn’t affect his wish to sign a contract extension.
“My change of agent? These are things that happen, we shouldn’t focus on that. I have faith in my parents, quite simply. Could I sign an extension? Yes. Do I want to? Yes. What is holding it up? I do not know, there are negotiations.” Camavinga said.
Rennes are fifth on the Ligue 1 table as they continue to fight to stay relevant in the race for European competitions.
Julien Stephan’s side played in the UEFA Champions League this season as Rennes were in the same group with Sevilla, Chelsea, and Russian side Krasnodar.
However, Stade Rennais finished bottom of the group with just 1 point from 6 games played. In the Ligue 1, Stade Rennais are 5th with 36 points.
