Neymar to get Barcelona reunion after UCL draw pits PSG against Barcelona

Neymar will be returning to the Camp Nou for the first time since his record-breaking move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 after the UEFA Champions League draws made on Monday placed the Spanish side against the French side in the round of sixteen.

Barcelona finished second in a group that had Juventus, Ukrainian Dynamo Kyiv, and Hungarian side Ferancvaros.

PSG finished first in a group that had Manchester United, RB Leipzig, and Istanbul Basaksehir, and their reward is a repeat of their 2017 quarter-final clash that saw the Paris side winning the first leg 4-0 only to lose 6-5 on aggregate after a 6-1 second-leg defeat.

Meanwhile, Neymar was injured in PSG’s 1-0 defeat to Olympique Lyon at home on Sunday. Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga got a slim 1-0 victory against Levante from Lionel Messi’s goal.

However, the extent of Neymar’s injury has not been revealed, but it is expected that he should recover before the round of 16 ties of the UEFA Champions League in February 2021.

Fellow Spanish side Real Madrid who topped their group with Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Inter Milan, will be facing Italian side Atalanta.

Sevilla will face German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund who just let go of their manager Lucien Favre after a 5-1 defeat to Stuttgart in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

Favre has been in charge of Borussia Dortmund since 2018. He led the team to a top place finish in Group F of the competition that had Italian side Lazio, Belgian side Club Brugge, and Russian side Zenit.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid will face Chelsea in the round of 16 of the competition after finishing in second place behind Bayern Munich in Group A.
