Isaac Juma: Slain super fan family calls for state protection as burial plans get underway

Slain passionate Harambee Stars and AFC Leopards fan Isaac Juma’s family are now calling for police protection, saying their lives are in danger.
Juma, 58, who was slashed to death last week over what was reported as a land feud, will be buried on 12th February at his Ebuhenjere village, Mumias West, home.
Speaking to journalists at their home, Juma’s first wife – Christine Indimuli – claimed they had been ordered off their land by Juma’s close relatives.
She explained that some “daring” relatives “walked into my compound to personally deliver the threats” while others had sent chilling messages through “emissaries”.
“We reported the matter to Etenje Police Station in the hope that they will be contained,” she said.
Their fear is that they will be ignored, saying Juma had complained about receiving similar threats but no action was taken.
Indimuli said the land dispute escalated in 2020 after they moved to Mumias from Nakuru.
Etenje Police Station OCS Inspector Rosemina Chagala, however, said they had not gotten any reports of the threats.
“The only complaint we have is from Juma’s sisters who claim their brother’s two wives threatened to burn their houses after Juma’s death. We couldn’t verify the claims, though,” Chagala said.
The OCS said they had talked to Juma’s wives and urged them to remain calm as an investigation into their husband’s murder continues.
A suspect is in police custody in connection with the murder.
