Mario Giuffredi, the agent of Elseid Hysaj, has revealed that the right-back has already informed Napoli that he won’t be renewing his contract, after expressing the wish to leave the Pertonopei.
The 26-year-old Albania international has been at the Naples club since 2015, with his deal set to expire in June 2021.
Speaking with Radio Kiss Kiss, Mario said Napoli President has already been told about the development around 20 days ago, as they look for possible alternatives.
Napoli had inserted a €50m release clause in his contract which was to dissuade clubs outside Italy. With his deal remaining just a year that won’t be necessary as there is already a risk of losing him for free in the summer of 2021.
Giuffredi, who is also the agent of Napoli defenders, Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Mario Rui, said their situation is different as they are involved in contract extension talks with the club hierarchy.
In another development, Napoli will commence training on Saturday after all the medical protocols have been met.
This was revealed by Professor Vincenzo Mirone, who is in charge of medical screening for the club players and staff.
According to reports, Serie A clubs will resume training this week, and tests will be carried out to ensure that no one is carrying the dreaded virus.
Speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo, Mirone said to respect the complex protocol, Napoli has performed nasopharyngeal swabs, which can be irritating.
Explaining the process, he said test samples would be taken from the oral and nasal mucus, as they are extremely reliable.
He further stated that the players had been divided into three groups for the testing, except for the greek goalkeeper, Orestis Karnezis because they had some technical difficulties with him.
While denying that the goalkeeper tested positive, he said, provided all players and staff are negative to the tests, the club can resume training from Saturday.
He, however, noted that the final decision lies with the Government and Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora on when training in groups or ain play can resume.
