DFB Pokal: Bayern through to their 11th semifinals in a row

Bundesliga Champions and record holders of the DFB pokal F.C Bayern Munich made a safe passage to the semifinals of the DFB pokal after a 1-0 win over Schalke 04.

The game ended with a lone goal courtesy of Joshua Kimmich’s strike after driving home a volley into the bottom corner in the 39th minute. The win stretches Bayern’s unbeaten run to 13 games [which includes 12 Wins and 2 Draws] as they are trying to accomplish a record-breaking 20th DFB Pokal title.

Bayern Munich skipper and Germany shot-stopper Manuel Neuer was a happy individual after the game as he revealed the team had complete control and deserved to be in the next round after their all-round display.

Joshua Kimmich who was the goalscorer on the night was also glad about his contributions in the game as he was happy that his goal was the decider to take the team to the next round

” I am excited to have scored the opening goal, and I couldn’t believe my eyes that it was my goal that pushed us to the next round. After our previous 6-0 win, I have found a way to be confident and believe anyone can shoot at goal.”

Bayern showed their dominance in the second half and was dangerous all through. Thought Schalke was stubborn and contented with sitting at the back for counter-attacks, and it almost paid off when substitute, Benito Raman nearly leveled but thanks to the reliable  Neuer who parried it away.

Bayern will discover their opponents onthe8th of March, and the semifinal will hold on the 21st and 22nd of April, 2020.
