Bundesliga to get kickoff approval by the German Government

The German Bundesliga is set to obtain permission to resume football activities following the German government officials in decision to relax restrictions on COVID-19 today Wednesday.

According to reports in Germany, the delegates from the Federal and state governments are ready to approve the resumption of matches in the Bundesliga.

However, the approval also comes with certain conditions as well as the league is to resume under tight conditions as no fans will be allowed into stadiums. Announcements concerning this are expected to be made during a news conference with the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, today.

Additional reports have it that the expected date for resumption is due on the 15th of May, which allows the team not less than a couple of weeks to prepare ahead. However, teams are yet to begin full training as players are only allowed to train in a group of 12’s.

With more than 1700 coronavirus tests carried out so far in the previous week on players, coaches staffs and support staffs of the entire 36 professional clubs in Germany, the DFL reported that ten people tested positive to the virus with three of those positive cases from FC Köln [ two players and a Physio].

With the second series of the test currently underway, if the total number of people tested comes out negative, then teams can now return to full training.

By the time the Bundesliga and its second division kicks off this month, it will serve as a tremendous momentum for the clubs having financial troubles as they were faced with the threat of cancelation of the season.

Apart from the football scene, the German authorities are also set to allow shops to open while schools will gradually open according to age grades.
