Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci has said he is impressed by the team’s performance against Poland in the UEFA Nations League game played on Sunday night.
Both teams had chances to get the three points but ended up sharing the spoils. Emerson was the closest to score for the Azzurri with a free header, which went off target.
Italy will welcome the Netherlands in their next match of the group. After facing Robert Lewandowski, who recently won the UEFA player of the year award, Bonuccis, who plies his trade with Juventus, said it’s always nice to face top players like the Bayern Munich striker.
While stating that it was still an acceptable result, Bonuccis points out that the Azzurris missed the last pass, stopping them from scoring.
Speaking with Rai Sport afterward, Binucci expressed delight as the team’s spirit show. On what he described as A bad pitch.
With such a result, the centre-back believes the team has well impressed the ideas of the coach, Mancini, and the desire to propose football.
He further stated that such a strategy must be valued need, adding that it will be important for the future.
Since the Azzurri didn’t concede against one of the best strikers globally, Bonucci said, it is nice to battle against the top players in the world.
Knowing the capabilities of the Polish team, the defender said Italy had a good game defensively.
Poland can instigate a counter-attacking move that Lewandowski could end, who is a well-known goal poacher.
Meanwhile, Marten De Roon has been released from The Netherlands squad early. This is because he will not feature in their next game against Italy. After all, he needs to serve a one-match ban.

The Atalanta midfielder played the full duration of the 0-0 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina in their last outing, which was UEFA Nations League. Since he got booked during the match, he is automatically suspended for the meeting with the Azzurri on October 14.
De Roon pulled out of the squad, according to De Telegraaf, and returned home earlier than first planned.
