Defending champions Bayern Munich are getting closer to their title more than ever following the 2-1 victory Borussia Monchengladbach. The Bavarians are aiming for their eighth consecutive title in the German top flight.
As the German Champions have done on several occasions throughout the unstable season, Bayern has faced every form of a challenge set ahead of them and have successfully overcome all obstacles beyond every reasonable doubt
Following the win over Eintracht Frankfurt during the week, some key players were missing for the Bavarians through injury and suspension as they face the side which has previously beaten them in a reverse fixture in December.
Borussia Monchengladbach was all over Bayern for most of the second half as they made Bayern work hard before they could grind out a win.
The game began as teenage sensation and Bayern academy graduate Joshua Zirkzee put his side ahead after a solo finish. Gladbach soon leveled up as Benjamin Pavard turned a ball into his net as it canceled out Zirkzee’s opener thanks to Leon Groetzka, who netted the winner to keep Die Roten afloat on course for the eighth consecutive titles.
If Bayern can win their next game, they would cement their title, which will make them earn their eighth consecutive title in a row.
Bayern so far this season has been phenomenal even right before the league went on break owing to the pandemic. They have overcome all odds and every stiffer test thrown at them.
Flick has also shown he is a great manager after he took charge of Niko Kovac in December. He has been able to bring the togetherness in the team and even brought the best in Thomas Muller as the 32-year old has been providing assists with reckless abandon.
It is safe to say right now that Bayern will win the Bundesliga title and also continue their quest in Europe as they hold a significant advantage over Chelsea in the Champions League.
