FC Barcelona hopes to get a win against Napoli at the Camp Nou stadium on Saturday when both teams face in the second leg of the round of 16 ties.
The first leg of the game played in Naples last in March saw both teams played out a 1-1 draw, and Barca will qualify for the next round if they can that get a scoreless draw, anything other than that or a win will send the team out.
Barcelona was in the La Liga title race earlier in March but going into the second leg on Saturday, and the Camp Nou side lost the La Liga title to rivals Real Madrid who won the title with two games to spare.
The team will be hoping to get the win and the progress to the latter stages and possibly win the Champions League to salvage their disappointing season.
For the Italians, they also finished a disappointing 7th position in the Serie A, out of the European spots, and the UEFA Champions League is the only way they can get into Europe next season permitted that they can win the Champions League.
That is a tough task to ask the Napoli side as they would have to get over Barcelona and a host of other teams waiting in the other stages of the competition but the team can take solace in the fact that it has only lost two of its last nine games winning five and drawing the other two.
In other UEFA Champions League games to be played on a Friday, Juventus would host Lyon while Real Madrid would also play against Manchester City in a must-win encounter.
Bayern Munich would also play Chelsea in the second leg of their third round of 16 ties. In the other confirmed fixture for the quarter-final matches, Atalanta and PSG will play while RB Leipzig will play Atletico Madrid.
